They dined on mince, and slices of quince, which they ate with a runcible spoon.

Does quince count as a cold dessert, though?

How should I know. I'm still trying to figure out what a runcible spoon is!

I would assume that the mince was cooked as the main course and the quince was the desert.

Yes - but quince is a fruit which if they ate it in slices suggests raw fruit. However, it could have been quince 'cheese' which although not technically a dessert could be eaten as such.

I rarely eat warm fruit. Maybe grapefruit or apples (in sauce).

I shall correct that statement. Unless the fruit is kept in the fridge, it is always warm at this time of year!
