Can I point out that chickpea flour is besan flour better known as gram flour and had been around for centuries...

Then there is almond meal, the ground dehydrated remains of almonds processed with water to make almond milk.

Maize flour...

I was nosing around the grocer yesterday and checked out the flours available. Their are quite a few unique flours available at the grocer that originate from some very interesting sources. Cooking powders aren't necessarily flours though.
