Food for Buddha

Around once a year, on one of the days referred to here as "Buddha" days, my wife prepares some food as an offering to Buddha. The most recent "meal" was this breakfast:

I gave him an hour during which time he hadn't eaten the prawns so I removed those for my subsequent dinner (fire prawns) and left him the racing chicken and pork scrag end to consume at his leisure [the fruit went back in the bowl).
 
I was just reading about the Hindu month of celebrations starting now with Navratri celebrations, then Dussehra, Karwa Chauth and finally come the end of October, Diwali, so it is interesting (to me at least) to see and read about this. thank you.
