Ingredients
5 small unripe (green) bananas
Oil for frying
Salt to taste

Directions
  1. Peel the bananas using a knife, as they are not ripe and will not peel like a yellow banana. Slice into chips.
  2. Heat the oil in a heavy deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Place the banana chips into the hot oil, and fry until golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the oil, and drain on paper napkins. Pat off the excess oil, and season with salt. Serve immediately.

I'll have to try this with green bananas as shown.. I've only made plantains before, which are similar but starchier. Well, they go from really starchy to sweet, but not as sweet as a "dessert" banana.

I wonder how a banana chip would compare to a traditional maduro, which is a green plantain? Or a tostone, which is a sweeter plaintain that is fried, smashed, and fried again?

Nevertheless, we always have a banana or two left on the hook in the kitchen, so I doubt anyone will notice a green one gone.

Thanks, classic.:chef:
