If you celebrate Thanksgiving, tell us what you doing and what you eating. Do you have turkey? Are you having dinner with family and friends?

Since it is just the two of us, we are not doing a turkey. We will be doing beans and cornbread. (Pinto beans).

How interesting. That almost sounds vegetarian! In fact it does sound vegetarian. So where's the meat?
It is in the beans. It has both ham and bacon.
I guess one could leave them out but it wouldn't taste the same.
I really need to start writing up recipes for here.
And yet another example of why @SatNavSaysStraightOn would have a hard time finding food in the south.

Now for a family thanksgiving, the meal is much larger.
2 meats usually ham and turkey
Dressing or stuffing
Potatoes both russet and sweet
Green beans in some form,
More side dishes from the people not cooking the main meal
Cranberry sauce (usually one or two cans)
Rolls
And numerous desserts.
Iced tea and assorted soft drinks for the beverages.

Of course my aunt decided when she took over Thanksgiving in 1986 that we didn't need both ham and turkey.
When her granddaughter took over thanksgiving in 2006, we got both ham and turkey back.

From 1996-2001, I did Christmas dinner but carried it to my aunt's house.
They moved away in 2002 but came back in 2006. Left again in about 2010.
