has died. Sad news indeed. The father of Nouvelle Cuisine, and probably the most famous chef since Escoffier. His restaurant L'Auberge du Pont de Collonges has held 3 Michelin stars since 1965 - that puts some perspective on his genius.

I thought he was already gone... :oops: He was certainly an important culinary figure. 91 yrs of age.

The 91 year old, Pope or Godfather of Nouvelle French Cuisine and International Gastronomie, Paul Bocuse was born, the 11th February 1926 and passed on this morning, the 20th of January, 2018 after having suffered quite some time with the degradingly horrendous disease of Parkinsons.

His culinary philosophy was the fresh product of the highest quality .. He was also the owner of the Institute & Gastronomic Library of Paul Bocuse, the highest and most respected culinary academie in the world, located in Lyon, France, where he also owned a three Michelin Star restaurant L´ Auberge du Pont de Collonges of world fame ..

Chef Bocuse was also awarded the Life Time Achievement award in the gastronomic sector in New York City by The Michelin Guide Publishers & The London Restaurant Magazine just three years ago amongst other renowned organisations in the gastronomic sector.

Rest in peace and all my most profound condolences to the family and dear colleagues of the late Cuisinier ..

@ElizabethB,

The French Cuisiners or Chefs and Pâtissiers or Pastry Chefs, are all headed to Lyon for the funeral services of the Late Chez Bocuse ..

Terribly sad .. He was quite an amazingly extraordinary man, way ahead of his time back in the 20th Century .. He was the Professor, to uncountable Michelin Chefs including:

Multi Michelin Alain Ducasse & Multi Michelin Joel Robuchon & Multi Michelin Pierre Gagnaire, and Basque Three Michelin Star Chef Juan Mari Arzak and the recenty deceased, The Italian God Father of Gastronomie, Chef Guattiero Marchesi (aged 86 who just passed on last week ).

@epicuric

Thank you for posting as I was about to post a thread, however, I found your post ..

My wife just reminded me that we visited a Lyon tourist board stand at the BBC Good Food show this year. They had a life size figure of Paul Bocuse on display.

@epicuric

There are quite a number of Bronze Statues of The Late Chez Bucose, in Lyon ..

He was quite a truly charming chap ..

I am pleased to state that I have several books dating back a number of years in French with his autographs .. I had done a Hospitality Management Course at his institute while I was studying for my Tourism Masters for an elective ..

I'm ashamed to say that the last time I was in Lyon (about 1998) I was not at all into cooking and therefore missed an opportunity to acquaint myself with him. Hope to visit again soon. All I remember was a fantastic fountain.

Right now, all the former students, well known Chefs and Companies, for e.g.: The Michelin Guide Publishers and the President of France & Ministers are getting ready to attend the services for the Late Chef Bocuse ..

The news hit all the newspapers online and in print world wide.

This was not just a Chef .. He was a Professor, and the holder of the Life Achievement Award just a couple of years ago, and focused on his culinary philosophy that changed the way French Restaurant Chefs prepared their dishes in France and world wide ..

He was extraordinarily respected worldwide ..

Good evening .. We are in Madrid at a Travel Convention and headed out now for dinner .. We have a 22.00 Reservation.

Have a lovely weekend ..

@Francesca

You are obviously touched personally by the death of Monsieur Bucose. He was an icon. His legacy will live on. Celebrate his life and his contribution to subline cuisine.

While I was doing my Masters in Paris, my husband (then my boyfriend) and I had gone down to Lyon, to do an elective course (Hospitality & Management Sector Course ) as an elective .. We had gone to eat at the late Chef´s Restaurant and we also had the opportunity to speak with him as he provided the specialised lectures.

We also have his autographed books ..

So, yes we knew him and had gone to his restaurant a few times since our graduation as well ..
