This recipe is in several Texas and chili cookbooks. The late, great Lady Bird Johnson gets the credit. Although in most cookbooks she is called Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson.

You will need 4 lbs of Chili meat. Chili meat is very coarsely ground round steak or well trimmed chuck.
1 large chopped onion,
2 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1 teaspoon comino seed
6 teaspoons chili powder
1 1/2 cups canned whole tomatoes
2 to 6 generous dashes liquid hot sauce
Salt to taste
2 cups hot water.
Place meat, onion and garlic in a large, heavy frypan or dutch oven. Cook until light-colored. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer about an hour. Skim off fat during cooking if necessary. Stir occasionally. Serves 10-12.

1 teaspoon comino seed? = Cumin?
2 to 6 generous dashes liquid hot sauce = what kind of hot sauce? Tabasco?
Yes.
On the liquid hot sauce, it could be Tabasco or your favorite liquid hot sauce. But not Siricia. It wasn't available to her.
I think I miss spelled Sriracha.

Another chilli. I must make chilli soon. it will have to be next weekend as not enough time before then. This one looks easier.
