Years ago when I was a lab assistant and my girlfriend was a student nurse we went to a restaurant, expecting a typical chain steak house type, but it turned out it was a very expensive place instead. We didn't have starters, and ordered just about the cheapest things on the menu
When it came to ordering the wine, I was panicking, but the wine waiter said he had something a bit less expensive that wasn't on the list, and in a French accent said " eet will go well with your pork, and will complement ze young laydeez cheecken"
Then, as he bent down to collect the unwanted wine list, he whispered in my ear in a broad Liverpool accent " yer OK whacker, it won't break yer!"

The most romantic meal I ever had was when a much younger man came into the shop where I used to work with a carrier bag full of food and said he was taking me home (to my place) to cook me a meal. He never did go back to his home except to collect his clothes and we were together for 10 years before the romance ended.
And what happened?
....maybe there was passion in the kitchen!
