I was going to post a link to a couple of interesting looking recipes I found for cat treats, but I didn't want to post them in with the people food, since they'd probably get lost in the shuffle, and I wouldn't want someone to make and eat them by mistake.

A lot of people are making their own pet food and treats these days, so maybe we could have a section for that?

I have made dog biscuits before. I think my dog liked them, but I am not sure they are worth the effort of making. They are kind of fun though. I had a cookie cutter in the shape of a bone. I suppose if you got good at making them you could give them as gifts or sell them at a craft fair.

there appears to be a big market for any animal connected apparel or foods ,i see it at game fares and country side events ,and its not cheap this market is worth millions,
i throw all my venison trimming in a slow cooker for my dog and then press it,it makes the best dog food you could wish for ,my boxer is 12 now and she still thinks she's 2
if you have a google you will get to see the enormity of the interest in homemade pet treats
this on caught my eye

Some are even cheaper than getting the vet out.

Since I am a dog lover, I guess it would be good to have a section for pet food. But on the other hand, that might taint the purity of this site since this is dedicated to cooking for humans so it would be a big decision for the admin to have that section. We also have recipes for our dogs but most of those food are special foods that we feed our dogs when they are sick. And lately, we have been feeding them with table food since dog food is not palatable to them anymore.

Ha, those look delicious. I can see people getting those confused with people food, and eating them. I've made cat treats before, but haven't found a recipe that they really love yet. If we had a section for that here on the forum, I could probably benefit from the experiences of others and their pets. The venison food sounds great. I make up food with part of whatever meat I'm eating for my kitties, and also give some to the strays on special occasions.
