The CookingBites Prize Challenge: Cakes

That is my problem. Son being vegan doesn't help as obviously a lot of cake and dessert recipes use cream or eggs. Partner never eats sweet things and I only nibble to check taste! Daughter will eat sweet things but I can't really expect her to eat whole cakes!
You can always send them over here :roflmao:

I should have an entry today or tomorrow. Depends on how far I get with it today. I just made 1 part of the dessert using 3 ounces white chocolate. On next to semi-sweet, already cut up 4 ounces to melt with hot heavy cream for a ganache to pipe, have another 4 ounces to go, but my hands are tired. After that comes the raspberry sauce. Then on to either the cake part or making up pate choux and piping it. After all that's done, put it together. Bet nobody can guess what I'm making other than it has to do with cake. :D

Cakes made this weekend but I have not written them up yet. ( I have now!) They are not my own invention but I have never made any thing like this before.

Sticky lime and ginger cake. (2 challenges for the price of one!)

I can't believe I have never made carrot cake before. I think I was put off by having to grate the carrots but using a course grater was a good idea. I wanted a recipe that didn't use dried fruits. This one is amazing. Mr K can't wait for me to make it again.

Oh geez! I'm so sorry.

Thanks!
I'm glad I got to photograph it! Mr K had briefly seen it when he walked through the kitchen, commenting "Green Monster!" Hmm.

I Stayed remarkedly calm.
It landed upside down. The glass plate smashed into smithereens. I quickly picked up the cake and put it on a new plate. I rescued some of the sweets and washed them. I scraped off all the icing now stuck with glass into the bin. Then I dealt with the glass and chocolate covered floor. I washed it twice to make sure I got all the fine bits of glass. I will go over the floor again before my son brings his dog on Sunday.
