A Reminder of the "Rules" (revised May 2017)
You must post up the recipe here on CookingBites during the time frame of the competition (no screenshots of or links to recipes on other sites other than crediting is permitted).

  • The recipe must contain the ingredient specified in the challenge.
  • The recipe must have the 'recipe' prefix and the 'CookingBites recipe challenge' tag. It should also have the correct normal tags so the recipe below would have the 'chicken' and 'lemons' tags at a minimum.

  • The recipe must be linked to in this thread to indicate participation in the current recipe challenge.
  • (New) Cooking the recipe is optional, though it is encouraged.
  • (New) Photographs are optional, but encouraged.
  • To include everyone in any challenge, a suitable vegetarian/vegan/allergy free/intolerance free substitution will be permitted if the challenge ingredient is something a participant can not or does not eat, for whatever reason. What is permitted is up to the current challenge judge to decide on.
  • (New) In the event that an ingredient is unavailable regionally, substitutions should be agreed with the judge.
  • The judge's (or site owner's) decision is final and the new winner will select the next ingredient and the time frame...
  • And finally, as always, in the event of any dispute the site owner has the final say.

Seriously, April Fools day. I could have lots of fun with this!:roflmao: Keep in mind there are other types of limes beside Persian limes. Australian finger limes and Key limes come to mind.

After reading a separate thread about marmalade, I could make limalade maybe. The normal orange marmalade here is too sweet for me.

That would be lovely. There is a British lime marmalade which has been around since I was a kid (Rose's) but it is disappointingly sweet. I reckon you could nail it @Yorky.

Tequila Lime Chicken will be coming up in the next day or so.:D

But I'm also trying to think of some more original ways to use limes. I have got some dried limes which are a fabulous ingredient so I may go down a Middle Eastern route.

I'm starting to realize how tricky this ingredient is, despite using it in so many things. I have so many recipes where lime is an important part, but only one where it's a featured player. Unfortunately, that one - Trout Ceviche - is something I already posted. I haven't given up, but it's taking a bit longer than I expected.

Craig loves Key Lime pie so when I asked him whether he wanted some kind of meringue pie or angel food cake he wanted (needed to use up the egg whites from the egg yolk raviolos) he chose this.

We are also going to make some lime-cello as we have a huge bag of limes we got at the restaurant supply place about 2 weeks ago since the price for them is ridiculous in the grocery right now. We got a 5 pound bag of limes for $5 and they were 2 for $1 at the grocery.
