As I indicated when I read the PM, I was very surprised: I thought I was being notified in the "prize" of having posted my 500th message. But, this is so much better! Please send me this book: I just bought a smoker, and haven't unpacked it yet. I could look to the internet for ideas, but this would be so much better! I will post my selection for the next spice once I've seen what's been done before. Thank you once again!

Its OK - you don't have to select the next spice. This is different from the Recipe Challenge. I choose a spice and do a write up, judge it and send out the prize!

This jar is full, andi think it cost €2-3. As they say, if it seems too good to be true...

Apparently saffron is graded according to quality. The cheap stuff is used in tea, rice, and desserts, where flavour is not as important as colour.

And me! Thank you so much. A lovely surprise yesterday. It looks better than the Schwartz one I bought. Again, a terrible photo, but the strands look darker and finer.

I don't know if it is a better type than the Schwartz. It didn't cost an arm and a leg - I have used it before and it seems good. Schwartz is stupid expensive in any case.
