Things on Toast

A rueben is an open faced sandwich of toasted, buttered rye, thousand island dressing, corned beef (or pastrami), sauerkraut, and melted swiss cheese.

Yes, of course, that's why I specified Heinz.
I bet I could fool you in a blind test. There was a programme on not long ago about trying to help people save money on food shopping. Greg Wallace is one of the presenters. They swap some of the the products that people buy and all the labels are made neutral so they can't tell which have been swapped. One family swore by Heinz beans and were certain that the beans they ate were Heinz. They were actually a budget supermarket brand.

In another episode, a couple decided that the 'gourmet ready meal' they had been given was dreadful and not a patch on the one they usually bought. You can guess the rest...

You wouldn't believe how much these cost here..........

No budget alternatives in Thailand then!?

Yes there are. About 3 I believe. I currently eat Branston's as they are about 60% of the price of Heinz.

The prices are (converted to Sterling) for one large tin (app 400 gm):

Aro (Thai) - £1.05
Brook (Thai) - £1.40
Branston - £1.15
Heinz - £1.98
