Things to do with pulses

I always have dried and canned pulses, grains and beans in my store cupboard but never really know what to do with them. I make quite a nice Dahl type dish and add them to soup or stews. Has anybody got any interesting ideas for meals where these ingredients are the star of the show? They are such a cheap and healthy ingredient that I should definitely make better use of them.
