.. and booked in for bass lessons. First one is a free half hour to see if I like it. I'm not expecting much from a half hour but it's a start.
I'm now trying to learn a couple of songs by The Dead Kennedys.
"Too Drunk to...." and
"Holiday in Cambodia"

Wish me luck folks. The lesson is on Thursday at half 4 and I'm nervous already.

That's some pretty up tempo stuff to start with
Don't forget to pack a wife...

Bass players are often thought of as people who could handle playing the guitar. Some bass players proved that wrong. Here is some inspiration for you from some of my favorite bass players.

First a little Geddy Lee...

John "Thunderfingers" Entwistle...

And last, but by no means least, a little Stuart Hamm..

Also look up Victor Wooten on YouTube. I couldn't post any more videos, but he plays with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, and is amazing.

Geddy is fantastic.
I also love Matt Freeman's work(Rancid), Jerry Also (Murderland) and one of the friendliest men in punk, Argyle Goolsby (Blitzkid). While not the most technical genre of music, I absolutely love the sound from a lot of the Horrorpunk bands.

You must be considerably younger than me, because I don't know any of those musicians or bands.

Had the first lesson. He had me practicing holding all my fingers down instead of how I was doing it and lifting my index finger high of the fretboard and did a few finger stretching scales.

I've booked in for an hour next week so hoping things will start to show improvement.

Also, as something to sort of aimtowards her asked what song I was interested in learning first. I wasn't expecting that so panicked a bit (🙄😂) and said "Holiday in Cambodia".

He laughed and said"Brilliant, ok, that's the first one we'll do".

An update... I've had a lesson every week and things are coming on on. He seems happy with progress and says in about 3 leading ahead of where he expected because I'm practicing do much at home. Mainly just scales etc.. But I gotta start somewhere.
Bought myself a nice Ibanez to mess about with as well.
Loving it so far.
