With the groud rice than my first guess would be Laab.

Would this substantiate your guess?

I saw a recipe for Som Tam that used rutabaga in place of the papaya. Maybe that's an option?
:eek: We know that as Swede, it would certainly be different. You can do it with unripe mango I believe.

Since my post I have done some Googling and there is an Asian supermarket about 25 miles away who stock unripe papaya, so I think I will call in next time I'm travelling that way.
