What doesn't go with eggs?

Tough one. Roast dinner, shepherds/cottage pie, lamb generally I should think, no?

Although I haven't tried it, I tend to agree with you on the roast dinner. However, I would not be averse to adding a poached egg to cottage pie.

Thinking about it, it's the same ingredients as steak and chips so an egg should go well.

Continuing to answer my own question - I don't think eggs really go with shellfish. I'm trying to think of a dish which includes both...

Marie Rose sauce which is used extensively with prawns is egg based. And my egg tapas include both eggs and prawns.

However, I'm not too sure if eggs would compliment mollusks.

I really only eat eggs as in Spanish Omelette ( Tortilla Española) or a French Omelette and / or with Boletus Eduli wild mushrooms or Deviled Eggs or hard boiled in salads .. We are not big egg eaters otherwise ..

I would think that eggs do not pair well with sweet ítems such as fresh fruit, raisins, dates, figs etcetra ..

However, to each his or her own ..

And stereo typing palates and tastes of who likes "wet drippy yolks", is not my cup of tea .. We do not like wet drippy yolks at all ..

Oh - I could certainly eat chilli with eggs! It looks great to me.

Huevos Rancheros are served on a chili sauce, but not chili con carne, yum.

Another thing that doesn't go well with eggs are spiders! I service breathing air systems for Fire Stations. One of the customers on my route is a company that has their own fire dept. It is the only dept that I have seen where the firemen carry side arms. The first time I serviced the system, I noticed there were net bags hanging from the ceiling with large (grape fruit size) spheres in them. I asked my escort what they were. The spheres are ostrich eggs, used to keep spiders away. Guess it works, I've never seen a spider in that building.

I've never been a fan of egg with tomato - on cooked breakfast I have either eggs or baked beans/tomatoes....never both!
I know there are a few dishes out there (eg. shakshuka) where eggs and tomatoes are combined...maybe I need to give them another try.

It is cultural ..

I know alot of people who won´t touch a soft boiled or poached dripping yolk or an egg that is not well done ..

Each to his or her own !!!

Did you read her comment, that you quoted, was in reply to my post about using ostrich eggs as a spider repellent? :scratchhead:

I routinely make hot & sour soup with shrimp and I stir in an egg or two at the end. This isn't what you were envisioning - a whole egg on a plate with a prawn - but it does technically incorporate both, even if the other ingredients are blended in with the shellfish and the egg.

Its true! And I posted a retro recipe: Eggs with Shrimp Cream Sauce which is the other way round really (the shrimp are part of a sauce).

But yes, I wonder if there are there any seafood dishes using whole seafood and whole eggs?

I found a few Scallops and Eggs recipes, believe it or not. All of them assume that you want to mix the scallops with the egg yolk. My main issue with that is that properly seared scallops are perfect straight out of the pan with a little bit of salt and pepper.

This one is from the Telegraph, and it looks like it would actually be good:

And, here's another that's literally a poached egg on a plate with scallops (the yolk becomes a sort of a sauce that you run the scallops through):
