I thought about this when @Yorky posted a photo of a pork pie in the What did you cook/eat today thread - see here. So what is your favourite savoury pie? Personally, I am torn between a Melton Mowbray pork pie and a steak and kidney pie. Also, do you make your own pies? I confess I've never made a pork pie which uses the raised hot water crust method.

Chicken pot pie is my #1, followed by Cajun shepherd's pie (though it's really a cottage pie).

A good porkie pie would be my favourite......

Sheperd's, then Cottage. I've always wanted to try a steak and kidney since I love offal, and of course, steak.

Also, I want to try a seal flipper pie, a specialty of Newfoundland, Canada.

I totally agree on the pork pie and steak & kidney (Kate and Sidney) pie. But as I can not eat most meats my now favourite is mushroom pie and also lentil "shepherd's" pie.

The local pie is meat (beef) and potato.

It's still my homemade cheese and onion pie, which I make most weeks.
I have previously posted the recipe.
It is equally good hot or cold, though Mr K prefers it hot, fresh from the oven.

Pork pie is definitely fave cold pie. I am on a quest to find the best one, having tried making my own with mixed results.. On my travels I often visit butchers shops in search of their own home made pork pies.

Favourite hot pie would probably be steak in port and Stilton gravy. Runner up would be fish pie (topped with mashed potato, not pastry)

I don't think I've created a favorite yet. I can almost guess it will have seafood in it.:okay:

I like fish pie with sliced or crushed potato rather than mash, but I think mashed must be a lot nicer with loads of real butter in.

There's a place on 9th Ave called Empanada Mama's https://www.empmamanyc.com/ that makes fantastic seafood empanadas. Each little pastry has a shrimp, crab, and scallops. I'm not a big fan of empanadas, but the seafood (called Viagra on the menu) are delicious, along with the Mambo Italianos.
