I've something similar here, but that one is really complicated. The corrugated metal got me to the line.

One has to presume then that it is designed to accommodate a finger. Implying, maybe, that the implement is rotated around the right hand nut (pivot)? For possibly a curling effect?

Yes its one side and no it doesn't connect to any other component.

Yes it is - its mainly for cucumbers as far as I know. Here is another shot of it. You stick the screw in the cut side of the cucumber and start turning!
