I'm none the wiser! What is it like?
What's this? For comparison, the two spices to the left are coriander (at the top) and fenugreek. This spice goes by several different names.

They look like caraway seeds to me.

I really don't know. It's made into khanhom here which is too sweet for me so I've not tried it.
Nope. You may not be able to get them. They go by 3 names that I know of - one of which is European. Very good in potato curry.

They look to me like a shorter version of fennel seeds. If not, we do not have them here.
Clues: the two Indian names begin with A and C
The UK name begins with L (which is also the name of the herb which grows from the seed).

I'm sure that it's not ajwain.
It is Ajwain. Now you got me worried in case I got the photo mixed up. The seeds are very small and I didn't know they looked 'stripy' until I photographed them! I'll double check by re-photographing. I'll put them next to cumin for comparison...
It is Ajwain also known as Carom or Lovage seeds - top left is Caraway, top right is Cumin, bottom is Ajwain
Its quite similar - might vary with the age of the seeds. Do you have any?
