Who Uses Placemats?

@Karen W - I've never heard of fridge shelf liners. I must see if I can find some in the UK. I have one fridge which is hard for me to clean as the door won't open enough to remove the shelves (wall in the way) so this could be a solution.

I feel like the uncivilized bumpkin...no placemats to be found at my house tho i have often thought if i did have them i could predict the cats would use them as sleds to slide across the table for a fun afternoon while i am away.

Those were shelf liners. I just used placemats side by side, as I didn't want anything sticky. Have fun with it.

I have the same problem but my shelves are wire ones, not solid glass, which I thought were to let the air circulate...,

Those are even more difficult to clean if you can't remove them.

Indeed! Added to which it is an undercounter fridge and I cannot kneel to do the bottom of it, I have to sit on a stool and hope for the best!

Husband is from Settle. Still not been on the railway though.


I have marble placemats which are brilliant because you can put a hot pan on them and also use them as a btead/cheese board etc. Versatile.

I have been on the Settle - Carlisle railway, it was a lot of fun! I do love being hauled by a steam locomotive. We have also been on the Jacobite: https://www.westcoastrailways.co.uk/jacobite/jacobite-steam-train-details.cfm. Though that was somewhat spoiled by people standing at the windows to take pictures when they could have easily done it whilst sitting in their seats.

The placemats I ordered finally arrived. I thought a metallic would be nice for the Holidays. They got lost in the mail. Hard to tell what they would look like in person. Undecided. Might frame one under glass to see how it looks.

The marble sounds pretty. Good idea about using it as a cheeseboard.

I saw some clear placemats, as well; and was tempted to change out my black fridge placemats for the clear ones.

I had to go measure. About 16 and 1/2 in Long including the stem.. about 16 and 1/2 in wide from the longest Leaf to the longest leaf.

I like the black placemats. I have black on my glass table as well. How did I miss this?
