I've seriously never heard of that in the UK! I'm pretty sure its not of UK origin. @SatNavSaysStraightOn, @Yorky, @Kake Lover, @Herbie , @epicuric , @Lullabelle - have you ever come across this?

Nope. The addition of cheese to most dishes is definitely an American thing.

There is a form of cheese on toast in Apicius as I recall, but they topped it with honey. But then the addition of honey to most dishes is definitely an Ancient Roman thing.

Never heard of it! - or any other form of stuffed sausages. Sounds nice though I would swap the ketchup for fresh tomatoes.
On googling stuffed sauasages , the results mostly have au or nz website addresses.

Most of the food my mum used to make was of uk origin, maybe this is just a kiwi thing. But I can tell you it's really yummy.

I don't know - its only sausage and mash with the addition of cheese. And sausage and mash is a classic combo (especially good with onion gravy) - only in this case the mash is stuffed inside the sausage. It looks a bit a like a hot dog. Its not pretending to be fine dining.

I will take it upon myself to try out this dish and report back!

I think @Masticator really didn't like the sound of your sausage stuffed with mash potato dish! I was doing a bit of searching and it does seem that this is a popular New Zealand dish and I gather that versions are also sold in cafes.
