Who said food wasn't political? Alt-right news website Breitbart, declared war on Kellogg's after the cereal brand pulled advertising from site. Kellogg Company removed adverts from the site, saying that it wasn’t “aligned with our values”. Breitbart has been in the spotlight since it emerged that its controversial executive chairman Steve Bannon would become chief strategist and senior counsellor to Trump in the White House.
Breitbart has responded to Kellogg’s with a furious statement: ‘For an American brand to blacklist Breitbart News is a disgraceful act.’ Recent inflammatory stories published on Breitbart include “ Control Makes Women Unattractive And Crazy”; “Data: Young Muslims In The West Are A Ticking Time-Bomb” and “Would You Rather Your Child Had Feminism Or Cancer?”.
Editor-in-chief Alexander Marlow called for a boycott of the company’s products, saying: “For Kellogg’s, an American brand, to blacklist Breitbart News in order to placate left-wing totalitarians is a disgraceful act of cowardice.”
