While quickly rinsing cocoa out off pale denim shorts and a pale yellow vest top before it set and stained, I wondered how many people have / use an apron in the kitchen.

Yes, I have two very nice aprons from here:

Tissage Moutet • Basque & household linen. 100% Made in France

It may sound a little strange that donning something as simple as apron can change your relationship with the kitchen, but those aprons did. I feel like I actually do better work in them.

I’ve owned several aprons before, but wore them only part of the time because they were ill-fitting, uncomfortable, and poorly designed.

The aprons I have now are exactly the opposite of that - they fit like well-worn jeans and are well thought out, perfectly functional and attractive.

I have a couple but rarely use them. If I am dressed nicely and having people over for dinner I will put one on, but it's been over a year since I wore one. But when I am cooking at home I am often wearing clothes that I am not terribly worried about staining or they are a color where it won't show up. I pretty much never wear white or pale yellow, LOL. And I have been lucky with my denim as it hasn't stained.

I always wear an apron these days, because there's a 100% certainty that I'll splash something on me. Tomato sauce for pasta, soy sauce, mango juice, turmeric - they all stain like crazy and are devilish to remove- especially the turmeric.

I have an obsession with aprons...

... that's just a few!
My all time favorite apron is from the same place that Sara Moulton uses ... LOVE IT!!
In fact, I was just thinking that I need to order some new ones... I'm a bit hard maybe on my aprons, what with wearing them all day, every day!
And btw, don't we have a thread on aprons somewhere here ... ??

I have two aprons that I got when I attended cooking classes for work team building outings.

I only use them when I'm frying something that I know will spatter a lot (such as a steak) and even then, less frequently nowadays since I got the splatter shield things, plus I do a lot of that spattery stuff in the air-fryer now.

I got a couple of aprons and hardly ever wear them.
I go through stages, think I should use one, do so for a couple of days, then forget again for the rest of the year.
But most of my clothes are quite old and I don't care much about them.
By the way, I think multi colour or faded grey/blue are better than black. Esp when using flour or so

Here are some pics (from their website) of the two Tissage-Moutet aprons I have:

They have a few other patterns I like quite a lot, but the bank (aka MrsT) won’t approve funds for additional superfluous expensive French aprons.
