Our favorite frozen drink is a banana colada made with Bailey's irish cream. We had it at the Kimton resort at Grand Caymen and at the Intercontinental Hotel in Puerto Rico. Our goal has been to duplicate the recipe.

Last night we tried the following:
1 banana
1 ounce Bailey's Irish cream
1 ounce rum
1 ounce banana liquor
1 ounce canned coconut
ice

blended in our Ninja smoothie maker.

The results were that there was too much of a rum taste so we made the next one with all of the above but left out the rum.

Better but not perfect .

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi, l think the banana liquor is banana flavored rum. The pineapple idea makes sense...thanks, will try!

What rum did you use. If it was Bacardi, that was a mistake. My parents lived in Puerto Rico for three years. Nobody from there drank Bacardi. Go a little higher end on the Rum, and the flavor won't be as harsh. I assume you used Coco Lopez for the coconut cream? If not, get some.

I make a killer Piña Colada. I learned how in Puerto Rico.
