So it was bit of a surprise to find an omelette with bell pepper and onion called Spanish...
More surprising to me is omelette as a breakfast dish.

Well its not really surprising any more as I've to used to the idea that in the USA omelette and most egg dishes are regarded as breakfast.

I tend to like omelette with a salad for lunch, French style. And I'm not meaning 'breakfast for dinner' or whatever.

Omelet is a lunch thing...
From the folks that eat canned beans for breakfast...
 Touché. But you see, we eat baked beans any time of day. We have them on toast for supper or for a quick lunch. Egg, beans and chips, sausage and beans, baked potato and beans, fish fingers and beans.. and so on. Cold, straight from the can is a favourite snack of mine...

I've not wrapped my head around eating last night's evening meal remains for breakfast. To me, that's the next evening meal plus some extra bits.

Beans, toast, omelette are normal cooked breakfast items.

Yes, me too.
Breakfast in America is typically made with foods bought specifically for breakfast. Not leftovers. Unless it's the occasional leftover steak used for a quick steak and eggs.

All depends where you are from.
For what I thought was an international forum, some of you have a hard time accepting others eat differently than you do.
There is a lot of "what's that" going on here. Just because someone never heard of something. 🤔

Now granted, I do not understand all the Asian foods mentioned here. And I am not new to cooking forums, but y'all eat some things I've never seen mentioned elsewhere's. Or Mid-Eastern foods. But a quick Google gives me the gist of what is being talked about

I will eat lasagna, pizza, or whatever for breakfast. It's called breakfast (breaking the fast) so I might not even eat it until after 2pm because sometimes that's when I am hungry for my first meal of the day. I actually rarely eat breakfast foods unless I don't have any dinner leftovers, unless I am making an omelet for my and DH to split, or waffles. Today I had fried rice and orange chicken for breakfast.

And that's how we learn about each other.

And I can't wrap my head around eating baked beans from a can or in any form, really. I don't like them.

The first year here the power out on wake up ceased to be a surprise. Van de Camps pork and beans, the little can, and a Circle K coffee was breakfast. Usually again for lunch and at that point I'm really hoping it's not that for dinner.

I would rather have a pouch or can of tuna (preferably the pouch because the can is too much for me to eat at one time). I can still cook without power, though, because I have a gas stove. I just have to manually light the burners. But it does present a problem not having any running water since we have a well that's run with an electric pump. I do have bottled water on hand, though.

Now I've got a generator and all that camping stuff so it's not an issue but it might be a minute before I eat commercial pork and beans again...

I made some smoked pork and beans for the GG's last week and they loved it. 🤙

They are too sweet for my tastes, and I don't enjoy the tomatoey flavor with them. Pork and beans are less offensive than baked beans. My mom made baked beans that were okay but she used a lot of mustard, onion, and bacon in hers.

That sounds interesting. Hoping that those weren't sweet? But a lot of people seem to like sweet baked beans. My FIL used to make his with molasses and they were not good. I always ate a small bite just to not offend him. I remember going over there for Easter dinner a few times and them always being surprised when I didn't want to eat the ham or the beans. I used to just fill up on salad, veggies, and appetizers. I had explained to them for the past 20 years many, many times that I don't like ham or baked beans but they would always forget.

Not sweet, savory. Smoked pork chunks, onions, garlic, and navy beans cooked with some Italian seasoning and bone broth. Three and a half oz of meat on each plate, lots of beans, homemade mini baguette, and whatever the dessert was. 🤔
