Caveman steak with chargrilled potato & garlic mash

Ingredients:
  • 1kg tomahawk steak
  • 2 garlic head
  • 1 large potato
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp sea salt
Instructions:
  1. Crush black peppers in mortar and pestle
  2. Add salt to the mix and crush together
  3. Drizzle little oil over the steak and rub it with salt and pepper (you may skip the seasoning, if you don't like the smoky & burnt flavor from the peppers)
  4. Let it rest for 15 minutes
  5. Prepare the grill, preferably with non-chemical hardwood. Do not use briquettes!
  6. Roasting the potato and the garlic the wood fire and charcoals
  7. Once the wood is completely burnt, place the steak directly on the charcoals
  8. Flip the steak constantly to make sure it's evenly cooked
  9. Grill until it's medium-rare, medium (duration depends on the size of the steak). If possible, check the inner temperature (try not to exceed 48°C /118°C)
  10. Rest the steak for 10-15 minutes and in the meantime, peel and mash the potatoes and the garlic
  11. Season them with salt and enjoy
 
Hungers mate a truly wonderful video and dish 15/10. I would have made it 20/10 if you had done a lap of truly deserved honor over the coals in bare feet. Bravo.
 
I've done this before, but with thick T-Bone steaks. It is a lot of fun to do.

Definitely use pure hardwood lump charcoal, or coals from a wood fire.
