This was designed to be a yummy twist on a boxed cake but I have used it incorporated it into my favorite home make chocolate cake recipes as well.
Grab a cake mix that has pudding in the mix for the best result.
Cake mix
2-3 eggs (depending on the cake mix directions)
Oil
1 tsp almond extract
Chopped almonds
1 jar maraschino cherries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl add cake mix almond extract, eggs and oil in accordance to box mix directions. When adding the water first drain the juice from the Maraschino cherries into the measuring cup then top it off with the water to equal the amount of water called for on the box. Mix well with an electric mixer then pour mix into ungreased cake pan(s).
Add cherries 1 at a time gently pressing them into the mix to avoid having them all sink to the bottom.
