My parents are from Guyana and I've learned a lot of their trades in food. One amazing dessert that I've had from them is called "Custard Ice Block." It has an amazing taste and it's just like your every day ice cream here, just with a spice twist.
To make it you'll need:
2 cans of evaporated milk
3 tbsp custard powder
enough brown sugar to taste (I'd say around 4 -5 tbsp)
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon
a few drops of food colouring is optional
Combine the ingredients on the stove using a whisk to take all the lumps out and until it thickens (about 10 minutes) then put it in a ice cube tray (or Popsicle tray) and let it freeze over night.
I serve it with a simple mint leaf on top.
it should look somewhat like the image above, it tastes really good!
