I have a black walnut tree in my yard and the squirrels love them and I keep hearing the occasional walnut hit my roof or a squirrel jump after them and it makes it sound like they're in my basement ceiling. If there was though, I think my cat would do something, or act differently to let me know.

Pippi hears the coyotes across the road, barely 200 yards, and acts all bad barking and growling with only her head sticking out of the doorway...
What I hate with the squirrels and black walnuts is, come Spring, I find those damn things popping up all over, including the landscaping.
Yes, they are all over my backyard.
