A few years back a friend of mine was diagnosed with diabetes and it was the end of the world for him. They were in the process of doing further tests and he was paranoid to eat anything that he perceived to have sugar. This actually made things worse because he just shifted to foods with hidden sugars. His doctor wanted him to try to regulate his diabetes through diet as a first method of attach.

I happened to be eating a low GI diet at the time and suggested he try that. He was almost in panic when I suggested that he could probably eat a few blueberries so he didn't go that route. After consulting with his doctor, it turns out they were on the okay list.

Has anyone else with diabetes used a low GI diet to regulate their blood sugar?
