Do you toast your whole herbs?

Do you toast your whole herbs like fennel seeds before you use them? I never have before, but I tried it with a couple of different things this week and it really gives your food, particularly sauces, a depth of flavor that wasn't there before.

yes I do with coriander, cumin, black pepper corns, fenugreek and one or two other spice seeds. another than gets roasted is fresh coconut when I make a tarka up when making an Indian meal.
