Wasn't sure where to put this, but I've taken to grabbing a nearby stool while in the kitchen.

Waiting 10 minutes for the stand mixer to knead bread, or for eggs to boil...more and more often, I just cop a squat in the kitchen instead of going into the other room.

What about you?

We have two small ( 1 foot tall) plastic fold up stools, one beside the fridge downstairs and one behind the couch upstairs. Both for changing bulbs and smoke alarms. I have just done my alarms, as we do on daylight savings. I can reach bulbs without the stool, but it's so much easier with the stool. I don't sit down while cooking, however I will take a break at times to watch a horse race.

I don't use a stool or anything to support me while standing. I have a hernia but I choose to do it because it's a form of core strengthening exercise which I need even when it is uncomfortable.

I do sit down when waiting for something to cook though, no point standing in the kitchen waiting for my cake to bake.
