Earworms...

I think I stopped listening to new music around 1985.
Ever so often something comes along that I like..I'll listen to it for a while then forget about it..music doesn't stick with me much anymore..I think it had a lot to do with things that I related to as a young person, other than the music itself..the artist, fashion, lyrics which don't really resonate with me as much, it's freshness, which I don't seem to hear much any more....Identifying with my social circle, etc..now, it's just about the music because I am pretty much on my musical journey by myself..lol

I get word earworms as well as music. For example:

Damian Grammaticas

He is a BBC correspondent for Europe. But that is a name to conjure with!

Right now, I've got Livin' on a Prayer by Bon Jovi stuck in my head. A few days ago, I had Werewolves or London by Warren Zevon stuck in my head. I don't know where that came from, since I haven't heard that song in many years.

I have a chat group with my kids so I can basically continue to torment them in their adult years. That’s what dad’s do…I sent this to my kids the other day hoping it would stick in their ear all day

I hope the link works for them. I copied and pasted the YouTube addy, and it looks like what you were linking is Safety Dance? If so, you are a mean father.

When I want to get rid of an earworm (yes, very often songs, sometimes some famous person's name, etc...) this is what I do:

Sing or say it out loud a few times, then wait.

It works for me most of the time and doesn't usually require more than one try.
