We make this, can it in mason jars and give as Christmas gifts. Always a hit!

Easiest, Yummiest Apple Butter in the Crock
This yields about 6 1/2 pint jars
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground clove
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5.5 lbs. granny smith apples
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  1. Chop and core apples, you do not need to remove peels
  2. Place apples in slow cooker and cover with spice mix and lemon juice
  3. Cook, covered on high for 4 hours
  4. Blend apples with a an immersion blender or blender until smooth
  5. Return and continue to cook on high, uncovered 4 hours, stirring about every 30 minutes or so until desired thickness

Thanks for sharing! This sounds delicious! I will definitely have to try it sometime! My mother has large apple trees and has always canned apples and made apple butter. I have never done it myself though. I will try this recipe and also share it with my mom! It may be different than what she uses.
Thanks again for sharing! :)

Thanks for this! I was just telling my boyfriend today how I am craving apple butter. His aunt is into canning and she made the best apple butter ever. I became hooked on apple butter and peanut butter sandwiches. To die for! Will make this over the weekend. Yum!
