So, I know that some people have issues growing basil. I am definitely one of those. I can throw any other herb seed down and it will germinate and grow quite happily, but do the same with basil and it appears that nothing every happens.

I did fail at growing ransomes garlic (wild garlic) as well, but those seeds need to drop below a certain temperature for a long period. apparently 4 weeks in the fridge was not cold enough.

My squashes tend to struggle to get a decent size, but I have learnt to live with that. Smaller ones mean I just cook 1 meal with them and don't worry about needing to find another recipe to use the 3kg butternut squash that is left over.

So what do you struggle to grow that you want to and do you know why?

Dill. It's got to be my (almost) favourite herb, but it never seems to take. I wondering whether to find a secluded part of the garden and just protect the seeds with some netting on top.

Coriander/clantro: I can grow it in winter time but it bolts too quickly any other time of the year.
Tomatoes are tricky due to red spidermites and I don't want to spray.
I can't grow parsley for some reason. I hardly ever use it, so I'm not worried about it.
I got a couple issues in general. One is termites, another one is that all pest insects multiply very quickly in the heat!

It free seeds everywhere here once it gets going.

I can’t grow any root vegetables at all. My soil is a very dense, heavy clay, and it’s too thick for most root vegetables. I have been amending it continuously and it’s better, but still not quite there yet.

Also, sunflowers. They’re supposed to be super easy, but I can’t grow one for the life of me.

Sounds like me growing small watermelons, doesn't happen.

You might want to build a raised bed, that’s what I did for years, much easier for me to fill things up than digging.

Digging is like work... 🥵

At least you have a machine, I don't have anything. My husband refused to help. I’m all by myself.
Mom let me play with the shovel for two years, minimal garden, before one day she piped up, "Why don't you use the tiller, you'll get so much more?" So yep, I feel you. I was doing raised beds and buying bags of dirt and mulch...
