A very strange shaped home grown guava (not grown by me).

My wife just eats them raw. Do you eat guava and if so, how do you serve it?

I have had Guava at Peruvian restaurants, which is normally served as "jelly paste" with a fresh White cow cheese for a dessert ..

I have eaten them fresh at the Market raw however, they look very different .. They are imported from Ecuador and Brazil. They are a coral red in the interior like a fresh fig and fleshy and the exterior is dark green ... They are very juicy and sweet and aromatic too .. I like them ..

I think the guava I've had is similar to the one mentioned by @Francesca as it had a coral pink flesh. I made guava pickle once...

The one you show looks as if it might not be quite ripe - how does it taste? Apparently they taste rather bitter when underripe but should taste like a cross between a pear and strawberry when ripe.

It tastes a tad sour. It is not quite ripe but it's how the Thais generally eat them.
