I have about 4 types of rice here, arborio for risotto ,basmati for Indian cooking. Plain white rice for rice pudding and brown rice for the wife.

We have generic long grain, generic medium grain, and Mahatma brand short grain, all white.

We have Arborio and 8 coffee jars filled with Basmati. DD buys a 20 lb. bag and we split it. Thought we had Jasmin. Must have used it all.

As far as food I don't like, and really don't know if I should like it, is clams. And I guess oysters, squid, escargot.

DH does not like mushrooms and there is nothing I can do to change his mind. Darn it.

I'm going to have to go and look to see what rice I have... quite a few types I think. Which makes me think - why am I not cooking rice more often?

In my cupboard:
Aged Basmati
Basmati
Black Venus rice
La Bomba (paella rice)
Red rice
Arborio
Brown rice
A mixture of basmati and wild rice.

I don't have any sticky Chinese type rice as its not something I cook with very often.

I have white long grain rice, white medium grain rice, basmati rice, black rice, brown rice, arborio rice.

What other rice-like grains do I have? I'm glad you asked! I also have farro, couscous, quinoa, and bulgur wheat.

Has anyone used camargue rice? @morning glory: is that the red rice you mentioned? I never have, but this topic is making want to find some:

It could be a challenge finding it all...

Well I'm sadly lacking variety in the rice department right now. I couldn't find much at all.

  • Medium grain whole grain brown rice (5kg bag)
  • Arborio rice
  • Black glutinous rice

I'm out of my brown basmati and black rice.

I've just as much rice alternatives in at the moment!
  • Green freekah
  • Roasted freekah
  • Black barley

Yep, but also have pearl barley and another I can't quite remember right now and it's too cold to go into the mud room again tonight

I included them because wild rice was mentioned earlier. It's technically not rice but another grain/ seed.
