Recipe How to Make Ham and Cheese Ensaymada

This could be a very delicious snack for the whole family. :)

The Ingredients:

1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
4 pcs egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted margarine
1/4 cup milk
3 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
Sweet ham (cube sliced)
grated cheese

Directions:

1. Dissolve yeast and 1 tbsp sugar with 1/4 cup water.

2. On a separate bowl, put egg yolks, sugar, milk, salt, 1/4 cup of margarine, 1/4 cup water

and 2 cups of flour.

3. Mix thoroughly then add yeast mixture. Add 1 1/2 cup flour and 1/4 cup margarine.

4. Mash until the surface of dough/mixture is smooth. Spread margarine in a muffin pan and put there the mixture.

5. Cover it with semi wet cloth and let it expand until its size was doubled.

6. Get dough, cut it to desired size and flatten it using a rolling pin, Put cheese and ham on it and roll it.

7. Make it longer and rotate it on a finger to have that ensaymada shape. Let it expand for 1 hour.

8. Put in a oven with 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.

9. Spread margarine, sugar and grated cheese on top before serving.
 
I love ensaymada! It's one of my favorite snacks here in the Philippines, and I've been searching for ways to make one! I'd definitely try out this recipe so we'd all have something new to eat for tomorrow's snack time. Thank you!
 
Now I am craving for ensaymada when I saw this thread. It is a long time ago since I haven't eat this kind of pastry. I like this most with lots of grated cheese and salted eggs for its toppings.
