I absolutely love the cream cheese based frosting used for red velvet cake. However, recently, I have found bakeries cheating on the icing. They are either too sugary or there is no hint of cream cheese what so ever. I was wondering if anyone has a good recipe for it?

I love a good cream cheese frosting but never on a red velvet cake. Traditionally, the red velvet cakes I remember from my childhood always had a kind of cooked roux frosting and that's the one that I much prefer. However, you give me that good cream cheese frosting on a nice chocolate cake or a pumpkin roll and I'm a happy camper every time.

I live cream cheese frosting. I use one brick of cream cheese and powdered sugar and milk to taste. It all depends on how thick you want the frosting to be.
