I'm Watching What I Eat.

i get those frequently. I'll hold the same weight for 3 weeks and then on the 4th miraculously drop 1-2kg without making any changes... I've stopped weighing myself weekly as a result and have gone over to monthly.
Wow SNSSO, are you psychic? Weighed myself this morning and I've dropped 3 pounds. Now at 13st 6.75lb 188/189 lb. Can really see the difference in my physique, tummy is much flatter now. Finally getting myself sorted.
you'll be fine.

best wishes for it and we'll be thinking of you.
Yes it is not so much that it is an operation, I am, for some reason quite blasé about operations in general I have a childlike trust in science and medicine. It's what the operation is that is scaring me. I am dreading it.

It wasn't helped by the fact that when I went in to see the specialist, he persuaded me it was a good idea to go ahead with the op. However when he looked at his calendar he suggested the 8th December. I was sort of expecting that he'd say something like "I can fit you in next March or May." At least that would give me a couple of months to get my head around the procedure. Instead I've got two weeks!

Progress chart.

Height wise I'll just reach 5' 10" in the morning. I'll bottom out at just below that during the day.

Is it true that we shrink during the day? My sister once told me that - said she had to adjust her rear view mirror in the car in the evening.

my consultant apologized for not being able to get me in any faster than 5 weeks. the following day, his secretary (not sure that's the pc term anymore but...) contacted my husband with a short notice cancellation but it was essential that the blood tests, swabs and ecg were done that day. they had to be done 14 days before the op. it was 13 days before the new date. so I got exactly 2 weeks to get my head around a young person's total hip replacement at 48 yrs old and at least 2 nights in ICU, 1 week on the ward and a minimum 10 day inpatient rehab during a Covid-19 outbreak in the city. so no visitors but we managed to get hubby a pass that allowed him 30 minutes every other day so he could bring food in for me.

sometimes I think less notice is better.

yes it is.
it's the weight pressing down on all your joints during the course of the day. mostly on the disks in the spine, but also things like hips and knees, ankles etc. it should recover at night when you're not standing up or sitting.

It's why Drs always ask you your height. to keep an eye on any changes because it can indicate joint problems, add I know all too well about with C5-C6-C7 & L5-S1 all being fussed and now 1 of my hips. I actually need someone to measure me next time so I know what my new height is, since this op. I know that there is a marked difference between the old joint and the new one. I've had to insert a heel raiser under my right heel and even at 6mm it is not equalizing the sides fully yet. Some of it will be my body needing to adjust to get my hips level again and some may be the femur now being slightly longer in the replaced side. time will tell. if a limp or heel raiser is all I need instead of chronic pain and debilitating arthritis, I'm not fussed. plus he can have another attempt at equalizing the sides when the next hip needs replacing. I had lost over 2cm in height from my teens to now so.... I was 168cm (5ft 6inch) but had dropped to 166cm (no joint space in the hip at all and bone grinding on bone plus the changes in my neck & lower spine plus overall smaller changes in the whole spine)

I'm down 52lbs in 3 years. not sure what the last 12 months has been (just looked it up, 7.6kg (17lb) in 11 months.) I'm happy with that given that for 6 months I wasn't even allowed to stand up because of some nasty stress fractures so most of that weight loss has been since July (5 months).

my aim, to get my weight down to 'healthy fat around the middle' measure. last time i was this weight i was a UK size 6-8. I'm currently a size 10-12, so that tells you the difference. I'm still carrying too much around my internal organs to be healthy. I was somewhere vaguely around a size 18/20 when I started (and 192lb, now at 138½lb)

Wow, that's good work SNSSO. You've done really well, outstanding actually. You and your hubby should be proud of what you've achieved.
I've never been what you would call fat, at least not all over, but I had the typical bloke thing of carrying it around on my gut.
I'm really pleased with what I've done but it pales into insignificance against your achievements.

Yes, depending on your workload throughout the day some peeps can lose up to 2 or 3 centimetres.

I only tend to lose a half centimetre or so at the most. So when I wake up I'll just squeeze 5 10 but towards the end of the day I'll be closer to 5 9 1/2.
