With us going long-haul for our holiday there was plenty of choice regarding entertainment.

However, we both commented on the amount of violent films, I know they were made for cinema and have been watched by many. A lot of passengers were watching these films and I find it difficult to understand why anyone would want to watch them. People beating 7 shades out of each other, over exaggerated CGI creatures fighting each other and with humans, everyone and thing flying through the air and landing on both feet-no damage done, buildings crashing down, utter violence and destruction.

Yes they are just films, no I don't expect all films to be light and fluffy but is such intense violence really necessary?

I don't like violence in films very much. Sometimes its justified because its 'telling it like it is'. But often its gratuitous. The amount of violence in digital games bothers me too but I'm not sure if its led to many serious crimes. I suppose that is the question - is it bad for society?

Big topic @Lullabelle...
