Hi chaps I have been making bread 3 times a week for years and never had this happen, a couple of bubbles in the crust, anyone any thoughts please ?

You did something different this time. Did the dough over proof maybe? Did you use a different flour? A bread flour that is stronger works better than AP and might result that way. Possibly you might have used more water than normal. So difficult to pin it down to one thing.

Sometimes, when you get bubbles in the crust, it means the oven is too hot. The crust forms very quickly before the steam can get out, and then you end up with a bubble or five.

It could be that your oven isn't regulating the temp as well as before. You could check that with an oven thermometer.

You could also give the top a couple of slashes, to give the steam an easy path out of the bread. That may help.

Personally, I've never minded a bubble here and there.
