As the lone American in Japan here, I've been gifted a 30% increase in all things imported from the States since the rate went from 100yen/1USD to 130yen/1USD. That plus inflation for things I used to import, my online shopping habit has pretty much stopped. I thought about this morning while having a bowl of yogurt. I used to buy my yogurt starter cultures from a place in Maine, USA but everything is so expensive I've been buying locally produced cultures -- and they lack any character and flavor.

And coffee beans! It's becoming a luxury item. 😱

So is the exchange rate having any impact where you are?

Not the US$/฿ but the £/฿.

When I moved here 1999, the exchange was £1 = ฿75.00. Luckily, my major outlays were around that time (land, house, truck) because we now only get ฿42.60 (today) for our Sterling. And as you point out everything is becoming more expensive by the week. I am further hit because of where I have decided to live, the British government refuse cost of living increases to pensioners living in other than a few countries outside Europe (USA and Philippines being two).
