Knife roll

Does anyone here use a knife roll for transporting knifes outside the home kitchen?

I thinking maybe karadekoolaid or Rocklobster or Windigo ?

My knives stay in my drawers. I do however take my steel tonmy sons every now and then to sharpen their knives. He cant use the sterl like I do.

I used to have one, but since I am definitely on a different career path now and haven't been able to stand for long I decided my time as a pro cook is over and gave my knife roll to charity.
They are useful for transporting knives, but for use at home a knife block is also fine.

I don't. I rent my work knives from a service. A dude comes every two weeks and swaps them out with newly sharpened ones. I have the same ones at home so I swap a few between home and the shop. For somebody who has been a working cook for 35 years, I should be embarrassed by the state of my knives. But, I'm hard on them so expensive knives would be a waste of money for me. Oh, well..I still have all ten digits. So far, so good.

I think I’m buying one - it’ll be helpful when I take them in to be sharpened…right now, I wrap them in dish towels and it’s not very secure.

Second, I know we’re traveling for Thanksgiving, and I’ll want to help with prep or even cooking at our hosts, and probably three cooks in the kitchen…there won’t be enough knives to go around.
