My daughter’s birthday party is soon, and we intend to make it in US style. She is turning 5 years old. Can you recommend some simple food ideas and recipes that you used yourself?

Typical birthday foods would be hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and accompanying snack foods, like potato chips/crisps, pretzels, yogurt/pudding cups, that sort of thing. Lots of soda pop/fizzy drinks.

Dessert can be big sheet cakes or cupcakes/fairy cakes and ice cream, easy way to serve lots of folks.

Preferably cook the dogs and burgers outside on a bbq/grill and serve outside at picnic tables or even go to a park, if possible. Keeps the little buggers from wrecking the house!

It's rare here to actually go to a party with homemade food. It's sad! Parties have lots of finger foods like bagel bites, cookies, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers. And lots of sugary drinks. The last 3 parties we attended had nothing fresh, completely all junk in my opinion.
