I thought i could melt them to spread on top of my granola bars. But, they won't melt. Does anyone know how
so I don't waste them? Right now all I have is a big blog of hard chocolate in the measuring cup. I meant to say
baking bits, not cooking bits.

I may be wong as they are an American product but I think they are made to stay as whole 'bits' to be added to cookies.

The whole point of M&Ms is that they "melt in your mouth, not in your hand." That's the reason for the candy shell.

That said, you can either zap them a few seconds at a time in the microwave or use a double-boiler, and as soon as they start getting warm, mash them with a fork or the back of a spoon.

They are meant to stay whole. I've seen them mixed in with granola bars.

We have toffee bits too, same concept.
