Making chocolate from scratch

I love chocolate and would like to try and make it myself from scratch.
Has anyone ever tried this and if so, is it an easy process?
Any advice on actually getting started would be awesome.

I have done it and done a chocolate making course which I won in a competition. It is quite interesting and reasonably easy to do but does require a little practice and patience. It is also quite expensive to do on a small scale but I have to say the dairy free chocolate truffles I did make at home were way better than anything I can buy in the shops!
