Simple to cook, very popular and highly palatable which is relished by everyone this is our Moong Sabut Dal. It is nutritional and the most versatile of all pulses. Its flavour gets enhanced many times when served with tempering.

Ingredients For Dal

Moong Sabut Dal - 100 grams
Onions - 1 qty
Tomatoes: 2qty
Ginger Garlic Paste: 2tsp
Turmeric Powder: 1/2tsp
Garam Masala: 1/2tsp
Red Chilli Powder:1/4tsp.
Ingredients For Tempering
Tempering or tadka as we call it in India gives dal the unique restaurant like flavour.
Ghee :- 2 tbsp
Whole Red Chilli: 1 qty
Jeera: 1tsp
Hing: 2pinches
Step By Step Dal Preparation (Photo wise)

Wash green lentils thoroughly 3-4 times under the running water.

Add all the ingredients along with 1 litre water and cook for 40 minutes after first pressure.

Open the cooker and cook while stirring continuously until desired consistency is achieved.

Prepare tadka/ tempering with jeera, hing and red chilli whole.

Add it to moong sabut dal when jeera/ cumin seeds starts crackling and here your dal enjoy with any breads or rice you relish it with.

This looks good, and as you say it's easy to make. What would be the difference between using Moong Dal and some other lentil for this? And, based on the top picture, are you finishing this with cilantro (coriander)?

Yes it's easy to prepare. Go through the steps I have given and try it out, and in the last I have tempered it with cumin seeds, ghee, hing and red Chilli whole. Yes garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
