Need a new fridge. Need advice.

I don’t have any personal advice, but I did a quick check on Consumer Reports, and while they don’t rate that particular model, they do rate Whirlpools as one of the top 3 most reliable bottom freezer fridges, if that helps any.

That's a nice refrigerator. The price is right at $1600 for that large size (over 30 cuft). I wonder if Best Buy has the same model? I have a 20% off online coupon and a membership so might be able to get a bargain!

If you explore Home Depot I've got a 10% off code.
I was looking on Home Depot this morning (and Best Buy). Home Depot was more expensive, much more expensive for that size. I've got a Home Depot credit card and a coupon, too...I'll pull up all 3 sites tomorrow and compare. What a coincidence that msmofet and I both need a refrigerator.

I’ve been having problems with my fridge. It’s a Samsung that was a good price so we got it. It has a top ice maker/ through door water/ice. My fridge fan has frozen a stopped working three times. They changed the fan/heat thing/evaporator (?), three times plus the circuit board. Now I’m told this time diagnostic says it’s the ice maker. Apparently there is a big problem with this make ice maker. I don’t even have it hooked to a water line and it’s giving me trouble. Apparently it’s a design flaw. Can’t be fixed. But it’s just acting up after 11 years? I just want a new one. Seems like they don’t make refrigerators without ice makers. I don’t want an ice maker because they have issues. So we’ll get this one probably. It’s a bottom in freezer ice maker. Hopefully I won’t have a problem not hooking it up to water line.

Yeah, we found that we had to reboot our refrigerator to get the ice maker to work on multiple occasions. We have had issues with the ice maker for a long time. Ice is really important to us as my DH and I have cocktails (with a lot of ice) in the evening and drink a lot of ice water during the day, plus we have family over for dinner and need ice then, too. We had one of the parts on the ice maker service several years ago and my DH has just been troubleshooting.

The price on the one you found is a great price, but I think we need a door ice/water dispenser with the crushed ice feature, so I will have to keep looking. My last one was only 25 or 26 cubic feet so 30 cubic feet would be awesome. I read someone that to figure out how many cubic feet you need to allocate 5 cubic feet per household member. I think that's ridiculous and completely inaccurate, especially with the number of foodies and home cooks there are these days. Just the condiments in my refrigerator take up a lot of space.
Need sleep. I’ll think about this tomorrow.
Goodnight!

My last one was a Maytag. It lasted almost 25 years.
Our current one is a Maytag, over 20 years old. It makes some groany noises off and on, but it always has done that, from day one. We’ve only had one issue with it, a leaky water line, also right after we bought it, so covered by warranty.

It’s a bottom in freezer ice maker.
That’s what we have, and except for a leaking water line right at the beginning of ownership, it’s been great, has never failed.

I don’t think we’ve ever had an in-door one, but all our family and friends have them, and they seem to be fraught with issues - jamming frequently, just not working other times. That’s why I’ve always avoided them.

Mine has in the door water, crushed, and cubes. It works fine although at times the ice comes out fast enough it shoots on the floor. Probably a container thing on my end since I rarely have a glass under there. It's usually a pot for Pippi's bowl...
